PERSONAL/NON-COMMERCIAL PROJECT

ABOUT:
Including three intangible cultural heritage of China, “Elements” is an ongoing project, and something I’m passionated about as a Chinese immigrant artist- to bridge two cultures in langage, motion, and forms.

1. “Chinese Allegories”
2. “Chinese Radicals”
3. “Chinese Zodiac”

CHINESE ALLEGORIES

Allegory in common acknowledges as a figurative sentence or discourse, in which the principal subject is described by another subject resembling it in its properties and circumstances.

Chinese Allegories structures in a two-part allegorical sayings, which the first part, always stated, is descriptive, while the second part, often unstated, carries the message.

CHINESE RADICALS

A Chinese radical or indexing component is a graphical component of a Chinese character under which the character is traditionally listed in a Chinese dictionary.

CHINESE ZODIAC

The Chinese zodiac is called 生肖 or Shēngxiào in Mandarin. Identifying this scheme using the generic term "zodiac" reflects several superficial similarities to the Western zodiac: both have time cycles divided into 12 parts

Chinese zodiac is widely associated with a culture of ascribing a person's personality. In this project, I use graphic language to create an icon/logo system to seek for an opportunity to share my grown-up background and a small part of Chinese traditional culture.
